ಬಳಸುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ

  1. Choose the First day of your last period (LMP).
  2. Enter your Usual cycle length. It's 28 days by default; most cycles fall between 21 and 35 days, and the tool accepts 20 to 45.
  3. Leave the Luteal phase at 14 days unless you track it (it's usually 12 to 14).
  4. Your estimated ovulation day, fertile window, next period and today's cycle day appear straight away, with the next 4 cycles in a table.
  5. Tap add to calendar to save the fertile windows to your phone's calendar, or copy dates to share them.

How ovulation works

Ovulation is when the ovary releases a mature egg. It usually happens about 14 days before the next period, whatever the length of your cycle. So in a 28-day cycle, ovulation is around day 14, and in a 35-day cycle, around day 21. This ovulation calculator uses that rule to estimate your ovulation day and fertile days. That stretch after ovulation is the luteal phase. If you know yours is shorter, say 12 days, enter it in the tool and the estimated ovulation moves 2 days later.

The fertile window

The fertile window is the stretch of days when sex can lead to pregnancy. It runs from 5 days before ovulation to 1 day after, so 7 days in all. Sperm can live in the reproductive tract for up to 5 days, which is why sex a few days before ovulation can still lead to conception.

Signs of ovulation

  • Cervical mucus change: it turns clear, slippery and stretchy, like raw egg white. This is the most reliable natural sign.
  • Basal body temperature (BBT): rises slightly (0.2–0.5°C) after ovulation and stays up until the next period.
  • Ovulation pain (Mittelschmerz): mild cramping on one side of the pelvis, felt by about 20% of women.
  • LH surge: ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) pick it up 24–36 hours before ovulation.

Disclaimer

This calculator gives general information only and assumes your cycles are regular. Irregular cycles, PCOS, thyroid problems and other factors can shift ovulation a lot. Talk to a gynaecologist before making fertility decisions.

ಪದೇ ಪದೇ ಕೇಳುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು

It's very unlikely, but not impossible. Sperm can survive up to 5 days in the reproductive tract, so sex before the fertile window can sometimes lead to pregnancy if you ovulate earlier than predicted. Ovulation can move from one cycle to the next, especially with stress, illness or travel. Calendar methods alone aren't reliable as contraception.

Then the calendar estimate won't be reliable. The calculator assumes regular cycles, and if yours vary by more than 7 days, predicting ovulation from dates doesn't work well. Ovulation predictor kits (OPKs), which detect the LH surge 24–36 hours before ovulation, are a better guide. So is charting your basal body temperature (BBT), or using a fertility monitor. See a gynaecologist if your cycles are irregular month after month.

Yes. Physical and mental stress switches on the HPA (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal) axis, which can hold back the hormones needed for ovulation. Common triggers are illness, very heavy exercise, a big change in weight, poor sleep and emotional stress. A late or missed ovulation shifts the dates of all the cycles after it.

Not on its own. The calendar (rhythm) method fails for 12–24% of couples a year with typical use, far more than condoms or hormonal contraception. It isn't recommended as your only method, and the fertile window shown here is an estimate. Talk to a doctor about the right contraception for you.
